Getting to Hanmer Springs:

Hanmer Springs is a comfortable hour and a half drive from Christchurch. It is about 4 hours drive from Picton, with the opportunity to travel the scenic Alpine Pacific Triangle route inland from Kaikoura, which is about 2 hours away.

Other routes leading to Hanmer Springs are the very scenic drive south from Nelson or routes from the rugged West Coast, leaving from either Westport or Greymouth.. These routes all converge at Springs Junction from where the trip to Hanmer Springs continues over the spectacular Lewis Pass.
